Dovedale and Stanshope Photowalk, Dovedale National Nature Reserve, Ilam, Staffordshire

Distance: 7.5 miles

Cost: Parking at Dovedale car park is £3, but there are no other charges to access

Parking: Dovedale car park, Ilam, Staffordshire, DE6 2AY

Paths and Accessibility: Some good paths, but many with shale underfoot and can be slippy.  Some steep inclines and declines and many stiles to cross.  A more challenging walk in terms of access, not suitable for pushchairs.

General Information: This walk was organised by a women's walkers group, 'Get Some Fresh Air' in a naturally beautiful area of Staffordshire.  Very popular in the summer, it was less busy on our walk in January on a particularly cold day.  There are numerous different public footpaths and routes which can be shortened or lengthened as desired.

Amenities: Toilets are available at the Dovedale car park for 20p and there are sometimes refreshments available at the car park on more popular days.  We visited the tea rooms at Ilam Hall towards the end of our route for hot drinks and food.
