The Photowalk Network is an initiative set up and run by the Photographers’ Collective North Staffordshire (‘PCNS’). PCNS is a group of photographers who are passionate about the art of photography in its many forms and we operate to support and raise the profile of photography as a creative practice in North Staffordshire.
We’ve done a number of photography walks as a group. We enjoy the process of exploring with our cameras, documenting the space around us whilst being mindful of what we are experiencing, the people around us, nature, light, weather, etc. Our idea for this site grew from our photowalks because we wanted to record our experiences as a group and individually, to share with others and inspire people to enjoy walking and taking photographs themselves.
We think that there are many benefits to be gained from enjoying a photowalk. Not only the physical health benefits of walking, but also improvements to mental health and wellbeing from being outdoors, mindful and present in the moment by paying attention to the world around you. There’s also the pleasure of expressing yourself creatively and having the resulting photographs that hopefully remind you of good times.
We welcome you to enjoy the site, send us your comments or feedback and get involved by taking a photowalk yourself and submitting your photos and the details of your walk to us, so that we can share it on this website.
